Dan Cowan
Dan has been writing code since he was 9 years old and brings a lifelong passion for technology along with creative thinking and practical management experience to the Aptimore team.
Dan founded his first tech company, Codefarm Software, with colleagues from university in 2001. Codeafrm developed advanced AI techniques applied to portfolio optimisation in the City providing solutions to most of the top tier investment banks. Codefarm was eventually bought by the US based fin-tech giant Calyspo Technology. After a spell running a UK based research team for Calypso Dan returned to entrepreneurial space and founded BrightMinded – a successful software consultancy firm based in Brighton.
Dan has coded solutions to portfolio optimization tasks in the derivatives sector and for LDI/ALM, developed a credit DSL and created rich UIs to explore complex multi-dimensional data sets. Dan has led globally distributed teams covering development, QA and support roles and managed many software projects from conception through to completion. Recently Dan has focused on lean business and agile development processes in delivering web based service software.
Dan graduated from Sussex University in 2001 with an MSc in Evolutionary and Adaptive systems and a first class degree in philosophy.
